Connecting through Sandplay Therapy

Vancouver, BC - 2017-18 Training

Vancouver trainings for 2018 have been postponed. We anticipate resuming in 2019. Dates will be posted on this website, or you can email Beatrice Donald at beadonald@shaw.ca for more information.

For 2018, CAST is offering four 4-hour introductory sandplay sessions and in-service trainings in Sandplay Therapy. These sessions will be taught by Beatrice Donald, PhD, CAST/ISST, CCC, senior CAST teacher. These hours may be applied toward the 100 hours of theory required for partial fulfillment of certification or practitioner training.

If you are interested in an in-service training, please contact Beatrice at beadonald@shaw.ca to discuss details.

The small group introductory sandplay sessions are limited to four participants and will take place in Vancouver (Burrard and 6th) from 1:30 to 5:45pm on the following Saturdays. The training fee is $90/4hours.

Introductory Session 3: September 29, 2018

Introductory Session 4: November 17, 2018

Each interactive session will cover the following:

  • How sandplay differs from sandtray: Jungian ideas supporting sandplay practice
  • The development of Sandplay by Dora Kalff
  • Experientials introducing symbols, archetypes, and the sandplay process
  • A sandplay case
  • Reading and website recommendations
  • Information on becoming certified

Toronto Training Intensives

Facilitated by Senior CAST Teachers:
  • Maria Iosue, MSW/RSW, MA Soc, CAST/ISST
  • Olga Lipadatova, PhD, ATR, CCC, CAST/ISST
Three, 4-day Sandplay intensive trainings will fulfill 100 theoretical hours required for certification.

2017-2018 Training Program
Module 2:
April 26, 27, 28, & 29, 2018
Module 3:
October 18, 19, 20, & 21, 2018

IMPORTANT: If you missed a previous module, please contact the CAST teachers for this training BEFORE attempting to register for a subsequent module. Thank you!

Each module: CAST Members: $1100; Non Members: $1150

Deposit of $200 due at time of registration, along with a one-time administrative fee of $50. Cancellations before registration deadline are subject to a $75 processing fee. Cancellations after registration deadline can be refunded (less $75 processing fee) only if your space can be filled.

Registration process requires:

  1. Completed registration with minimum of initial deposit
  2. Completed application form
  3. A current CV
  4. Brief phone or Skype interview with one of the training facilitators

Kingston Introductory Training

Facilitated by Senior CAST Teacher:

Two-day training will provide 10 hours of Introduction to Sandplay Therapy allowing further enrolment into certification training with both CAST and ISST:

Cost: $380 CAST members; $420 non-members
Full payment due on March 28
Cancellations can be refunded (less $75 processing fee) only if your space can be filled.

Montreal, QC - 2018-19 Training - French ONLY

Facilitated by Senior CAST Teacher:
  • Yvon Rivière, PhD, IAAP, CAST/ISST
A sandplay training is going to be held in Montreal, in French, in 2018-2019. This 100 hours training begins in February 2018 and is approved by the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec as part of the required continuous education hours (activity number RP02293-17 and RP02294-17).
